CHC required the urgent development of an end-to-end Supply Chain Management System suitable to meet the needs of both the Cobbora Coal Project and the ongoing operations of the Cobbora Coal Mine once it was developed. The system was to form part of the broader CHC Business Management System.
The Supply Chain Management System needed to be specifically tailored to meet the supply chain needs of CHC as well as incorporating a heightened level of probity due to the company’s funding arrangements with the State of NSW.
The KLJ Solution
KLJ provided a small team of procurement and contracts specialists experienced in both project and operational supply chain management. The team assessed CHC’s requirements and existing procedures to ensure a tailored outcome without implementing unnecessary changes. KLJ developed and worked to a tight but practical schedule for delivery that incorporated appropriate time for the client review and approval process. KLJ prepared a comprehensive supply chain management system comprising a suite of policies, procedures, processes, templates and forms. The management system was ‘start to finish’ covering the full supply chain lifecycle from initial planning and strategy development, through to tendering, contract administration, closeout and handover right through to asset disposal. The system was designed to offer integrated and streamlined delivery of all supply chain functions for the company. The system maintained a high level of probity without compromising efficiency.
The KLJ Result
CHC representatives were very satisfied with the outcomes and benefits the company received from its use of KLJ’s services. The resultant system comprehensively addressed all elements of the supply chain process to the extent CHC required. “I have no hesitation in recommending KLJ Procurement & Projects to other businesses requiring business management system support.” – Warwick Sommer, CHC Contracts Manager
