Document Enhancement Service

Producing technical documents can be a time consuming and often frustrating experience.  Making them useable and user friendly is even more of a challenge.  We can help.

KLJ has a team with the experience and know-how to improve and enhance your technical documents.  We can provide formatting, proofreading, cross-referencing and indexing of information, and overall presentation improvement of your Tenders, Contracts, Procedures Manuals, Manufacturer’s Data Reports (MDR’s) and Operations & Maintenance Manuals.

Our first hand experience as procurement and contracts professionals will provide polish to the presentation of your Tender Submissions.  Your chances of getting onto the Tender Shortlist will be improved, setting you up for success.  These specialised services are provided by KLJ Consulting’s subsidiary, HCA.

Within the requirements of most projects, you have more than likely been required to submit your documents, including manuals and MDR’s, in PDF format, possibly complete with bookmarks and hyperlinks.  The KLJ team produces such documents, based on those you send us that you can then issue to your Client, Contractor or staff with complete confidence.

It also goes without saying that any documents you produce require proof reading and checking.  We can do this for you.  Our staff have the technical experience to enable us to proof read your documents by checking all cross-referencing, formatting and presentation then return them for you to amend, or we can amend them for you.

KLJ has most recently undertaken document enhancement work with many Contractors' and Suppliers' 'final' submissions, for the Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group (NCIG) coal loader project at Kooragang Island.  During this review we located discrepancies within Manuals and other documentation.  This review resulted in these documents being returned to the authors for rectification and resubmission.  This is an unnecessary 'rework' exercise which can erode your professional standing with your client, and cost you extra.

Had these Contractors and Suppliers utilised our Document Enhancement Services prior to document submission, many delays and additional costs would have likely been avoided.

Testimonial

"KLJ's work for us on incoming technical documentation was of great benefit to the NCIG Project. Their work improved the quality of vendor documentation, including MDR's and Operations and Maintenance Manuals, in the following ways;

  1. Created consistency in appearance, looks like someone cared - i.e. professional
  2. Because of the time saved by avoiding un-necessary comments on format and appearance, going backwards and forwards in transmittals/emails etc, vendors get less frustrated and end up doing a better job overall.  We also discovered we had more time to focus our attention on what we really wanted and therefore ended up receiving a document of superior quality.
  3. The Client gets what he has paid for and perhaps a little more sometimes - great for reputation
  4. Technical documentation is often something that few people get excited about.  Having an "expert" to look after the structure and appearance of the document would be a relief to many.

This speeds up the whole process and makes the task of reviewing the document much easier and faster. The client ends up with a document earlier, than if we did not have this type of service and is relieved when they see that they do not also have to waste time reviewing the document in detail, now having confidence in what is submitted to them.

This exercise was of great value to us, the Contractors and Suppliers alike."
