KLJ Consulting provided personnel for contract management and administration of the Smelter Upgrade and Retro-fit Project (“SURF Project”), an on-going project involving the upgrade of facilities at Hydro Aluminium’s Kurri Kurri smelter. KLJ Consulting’s scope included the management of the tendering, negotiation, preparation and administration of contracts for ancillary works associated with upgrading the pot lines at the smelter. KLJ Consulting’s involvement included the total rebuild of the Anode Baking Furnace.

As the project involved suppliers and contractors from across the globe, KLJ Consulting had the added challenge of successfully coordinating and administering the contractual relationships between the Principal in Australia and a variety of international contractors in both Europe and North America.

To assist with the project, KLJ Consulting’s Contract Monitoring System was effectively utilised to provide continuing overview of contractor’s obligations during the warranty period and to assist in closing out of major contracts associated with the project.
